Story: The Pantheress (Part 2)

This is my most favourite story of all of my stories, your feedback on my story will be greatly appreciated.... 

                 The pantheress two. 

10 years later…

Once in my childhood, I once had been lost in the jungle. I was all alone in the dark green jungle, and that's when a kind Pantheress helped me get out of the jungle. I said to her the last time I had seen her, that I'll repay your favour, but she had just said thank you in her language.

After that, I never saw her.

I have been looking for her, but I never found her. Just one time I wanted to hug her and give me a chance, but I never got a chance, till I got my degree to be an explorer. From that then till today, I've been looking for her……..

My friend, Yara, is losing patience with me. She had been my research partner. In the first days of our research, she had been happy to go find the pantheress, but now…..she doesn't wanna be my research partner. Because she is tired of looking for the pantheress.

But I didn't want to give up, so one day……

Yara: I don't want to go to the Amazon again, we have gone there enough.

Me: I will go to the Amazon, whatever happens!

Yara (voice raising): I won't go to the Amazon, I'm bored going there again and again.

Me: You are just scared of the dangers that live there.

Yara (angrily): I'm not, I'm tired of finding that panther.

Me: Now for a lot of days, we are going there to research, not to find Panthers.

Yara: You can find another search partner if you are going to Amazon.

Me (shocked): Why do you don't wanna go to the Amazon, Yara?

Yara (voice softened): I want to explore the other jungles of the globe.

Me: But I don't wanna explore the other jungle, I want to explore the Amazon.

Yara: Then why don't we find other search partners?

I thought for a moment, last month A girl had sent me an email asking if I would like to be her search partner.

Me: Okay, good luck in your search.

Yara: You too.

When I went home, I felt sad because of the fight Yara and I had, but then my pet cat Mimi (you must be thinking, how can this cat live for so long, some cats can live long), came to me, she licked my hand, and then started meowing. Mimi was a big cat now, but she was always a kitten for me. 

I took Mimi in my hands and I took her to my room, I went to my laptop, and then I started to find a search partner request email that a girl had sent me last month, when I finally found it I started reading it.

Dear rosa,I

I'm Lili, a new explorer. I am looking for a search partner, so I came across your profile, and now I've sent you this email to tell you that I want to be your search partner, this is my profile:

Name: Lily Brown

Age: 24

Search project: Looking for anything my search partner says, but would like to search On the Amazon. 

Expectations: Would like to have a search partner who likes Panthers.

This is my profile, you can reply to me if you'd like to be my search partner.

To: Rosa

I had ignored her email because I already had Yara as my research partner, but now I required a research partner like her, so I quickly started replying to her.

Dear lily,

I'm Rosa, and I'd like to have you as my search partner, I'm sorry not to reply to you earlier because I already had a search partner, but now I need you, the thing is I do like panthers, and looking for a particular pantheress, who had once helped me, I'd tell you the whole story if we met In person and also…. I want to search Amazon.

I clicked send, and then I started to make a plan for our research project. I checked the page 'Projects' and there was nothing there, so I thought that we would go there, to find something unknown.

Then I got a new email in my inbox, in which Lily had given me her number, she also suggested where we could meet in person and the best news of all was……. That she had accepted me as her research partner!!

Lili had said that we could meet at the coffee cafe on Lamington Road, tomorrow at 10 am. I saved her number as 'Lily Brown'.

Then I went to bed. 

Mimi trotted slightly beside me as I hurried down Lamington Road. I reached the coffee cafe and pushed the door to get inside. There I saw a young girl, who seemed to be waiting, I understood that she was Lily, so I went to the table and took a seat near her.

Me: Hi, how are you doing?

Lily: Hi, I'm good, how are you?

Me: I'm great, you are Lily, aren't you?

Lily: Yeah, I'm Lily.

Me: Oh, okay 

Lily(noticing Mimi): Oh is this sweet cat yours?

Me: Oh yeah, I always take her with me on my expeditions, I hope she won't bother you.

Lily: I'll be so happy to have her on our trips, Is her name Mimi?

Me: Yeah!

Lily: You had said something about a pantheress who had helped you, can you tell me the story?

So I told her the whole story about how I had got lost in the Amazon, and how pantheress had helped me.

Lily: What age do you think she was?

Me: I think 4 or 5 (Panthers become strong at this age, and they leave their mothers too).

Lily(excited): Then there are many chances for her to live.

I got a message from Yara.

Yara: Can we meet today at Remington Cafe? Did you find your search partner?

I type: Sure we can meet, I did find a partner.

Yara: Can I meet with your search partner?

I looked at Lily, who was playing with Mimi.

Me: Lily, my old search partner is asking for us to meet her at Remington Cafe, would you like to come?

Lily: Really? Sure.

I type yes to Yara.

Me: So what were you saying about chances for her to live?

Lily: I know a lot about Panthers, but we should go and find her fast.

Me: You are right, so when can we go?

Lily: Next week?

Me: Okay, for how long can they live?

Lily: 15 to 12, sometimes even 25.

Me: So there are lots of chances.

Lily: You are right.

Me: What's our main plan?

Lily: We have to find something unique.

The conversation went a long way…

Here's the summary: We had decided that we'd stay there for 10 days, look for something unique in a different way, and look for Panthera (I named Pantheress that) in a different way, we were to go next week. The following Monday. 

 When I came back from Remington Cafe after meeting Yara and Lili, I was quite happy, in our discussion Yara had said that she had found a partner, but when she went to meet her partner, she found that her partner was the opposite of her, and now she wanted me as her partner. And finally, we had decided that Lily, me, Mimi (she helped me a lot, so that's why she's counted) and Yara would be from now on in one team, we were all happy with the outcome, so we dined there.

Monday,

I hurried down the road with Mimi, past the cafe and finally reached the bus station, where Lily was seated on a bench and Yara hadn't come, I took a seat beside Lily.

Lily: You finally came.

Me: Yeah, where's Yara?

Lily: Has gone to buy some coffee.

Me: I'll go to look for her.

After we drank coffee and talked a little, the bus came. We all climbed the bus and sat there, on our seats. I was happy to go to the Amazon again, it was like visiting an old friend whom you had never met for a very long period.

We finally reached Amazon. I loved going there.

Yara: We reached here, what next?

Lily: We should set our a little deep in the jungle, then look for the unknown.

Me: Yes, first we'll be looking at the north.

Lily: Then west.

Yara: Then south.

Me: Then east.

Yara: It will be tiring.

Me: It'll be fun.

Lily: Fun fun!

Yara: Will we be looking for Panthera?

Me: If we had time.

Yara: Okay!

We settled our camps at a spot, ate some snacks, and then set out to search, in the north, In the first two days we searched in the north, and found nothing except slithering snakes, rabbits, and dears.

Then we started to search in the west for two days, nothing except snakes, rabbits and deer.

Then we searched the east for 1 day, same results, snakes, rabbits, deers.

Then east, in the east was a variety of animals, insects and snakes.

And so on our sixth day, we saw the strangest of things, it was a strange animal, with a body like a cat, mouth like a dog's, and was black like a Panthera, but had strange white spots all over its body, its eyes were weird grey, and then it let out a sound that was between a panther snarl, a cat meow, a dog bow, a cow moo, and a horse neigh, we took a pic of it, we had discovered our animal, now from the amazon department they'll be sending a team which will capture it and let the whole world know, with which people will capture it, kill it, sell it on the zoos, and then it'll become on a verge of excitation.

Lily was about to send the pic to the Amazon department when I stopped her.

Me: Let it live in peace.

Then I told her my perspective.

Lily: You are right, we should let it live in peace.

Yara: Yeah!

Then we started looking for Panthera.

After 7 days, we heard a distress call from a panther, we followed the voice, and reached a cave in which we saw….

That can't be true, it…it… was… Panthera!!!!!!

My childhood friend here at last, as I walked closer to her, I noticed a wound on her front right leg, when I examined it more closely, I noticed that it was a bullet wound.

Hunters…this has to be the work of a hunter, I tried to make Panthera get up, but she could not. The hunters could come at any moment so I called Yara, she was better at nursing, and she started nursing Panthera when suddenly we heard a roar.

Lily and I went out to see what was happening, It was a leopard, an angry leopard, and we couldn't let the leopard get inside the cave, The leopard was ready to pounce when I and lily stretched out our hands and looked straight into the leopard's eyes and said loudly to him.."We are only here to help the jungle not to harm, just helping a friend of mine, and you don't like it? Go and snarl at the hunters who hunt animals, not us".

Magically, the words seemed to affect him, he turned his back on us and went away.

Yara called out to us, we both went to the cave and saw that Panthera was feeling better.

Yara: Let's go to the camp, I have first aid there.

Me: Yeah, the hunters could come here at any moment.

Lily: Yeah….

We supported Panthera and took her to the camp, where we gave her some meat for her to eat, She started feeling better, and Mimi seemed to remember Panthera.

Panthera and Mimi became good friends, but Panthera was still not completely well, so we had to take care of her. When I met her, I was helpless and she had helped me, and now ….I'm helping her, amazing, right?

It was our tenth day in the jungle, and it was our time to go, I wanted to take Panthera. Panthera could understand what I said, so maybe there could be something I can do to know if she wants to go with me or not.

I placed a branch of a tree in one place, and Mimi on the other side, then I called Panthera and said to her "If you want to go with me, then touch Mimi, if you want to stay in the jungle, then touch the branch".

Panthera seemed to understand what I said, and…..she touched Mimi!!. 

I was happy to know she was going with me, I'll have her as my pet, and I could take her to the jungles with me as I do with Mimi, I told my friends about it, and they liked the idea of taking Panthera with us. We told our Amazonian department about it, and they sent a special bus, so we could take Panthera with us.
